Build a Persistent SEO Assistant with Claude Projects

1. Log in to {{tool:Claude.url}}
2. In the left sidebar, look for Projects — click New Project
3. Give it a name: "SEO Agency Assistant" or "[Client Name] SEO"
4. You'll land on the Project page with two sections: Project instructions and Knowledge (files you upload)

Click Edit project instructions and type your standing context. This is what Claude knows about you and your work before every conversation:

You are an expert SEO assistant for [AGENCY NAME], a digital marketing agency specializing in SEO for [your niche/industry focus].

YOUR ROLE: Help me with content briefs, monthly report narratives, client communication, keyword research interpretation, technical audit explanations, and competitive analysis.

MY STANDARDS:
- Content briefs follow this structure: [paste your brief template outline]
- Monthly reports use this format: [describe your report sections]
- I manage [X] clients, primarily in [industries]
- We use Ahrefs, SEMrush, GA4, Google Search Console, and Looker Studio
- Our target client persona: [describe who you work with]

COMMUNICATION STYLE:
- Match my professional but direct tone
- No jargon without explanation when I'm writing for clients
- Always be specific — vague recommendations aren't useful
- When I share data, analyze it rather than just restating it

IMPORTANT CONSTRAINTS:
- Never claim rankings can be guaranteed
- Never recommend link schemes or any black-hat tactics
- Always flag if something might violate Google's guidelines

This is where Claude Projects become powerful — you can upload documents that Claude references in every conversation.

Recommended files to upload:

1. Content Brief Template — Your current standard template as a Google Doc export or text file
2. Agency Style Guide — Tone, formatting standards, terminology preferences
3. Client Background Documents — For each major client: industry overview, target audience, brand voice notes, historical SEO data summaries
4. SEO Methodology Notes — How you approach keyword research, on-page optimization, link building — your agency's documented process

How to upload:

1. On the Project page, click Add files
2. Upload as PDF, Word, or plain text files (max 10 files per Project, 10MB each)
3. Claude now has this context available in every conversation within this Project

1. Click Start new chat within your Project
2. Test with a realistic task: "I'm working on a content brief for a client who wants to rank for 'HVAC maintenance checklist.' Here's their site: [URL]. Start building the brief structure."
3. Claude should respond with context from your uploaded templates — check if it's using your standards

Troubleshooting: If Claude isn't using your uploaded standards, add to your Project instructions: "Always reference my uploaded content brief template when generating briefs. Ask me for the SERP data before generating any brief."

For your top 3-5 clients, create a dedicated Project per client:

1. Create a new Project: "[Client Name] — SEO"
2. In instructions, add: "This Project is specifically for [Client Name], a [description]. Their target audience is [audience]. Their primary SEO goal is [goal]. Their main competitors are [list]."
3. Upload their specific onboarding document, past audit results, and content strategy notes
4. Use this Project for all work related to that client — briefs, reports, emails, analysis
